@Dr. Scott: " I also wonder why Foreman, a neurologist, was consulted for someone having abdominal pain and arthritis."
-Kayla initially came in through the clinic and Foreman had clinic duty and was assigned the case.

@Rob "Not sure if I missed this or not, but was Bechet’s the underlying cause of the gastic ulcers? It kinda went really quickly from a diagnosis of Bechets to her peritonitis."
-I think that the show explained Kayla's stomach ulcers as occurring from the amount of OTC pain medication she was taking and not as a direct result of Behçet’s.
-In this case Foreman or the Clinic nurse should actually be implicated in the mistake as well since they were the first people to see Kayla and should have asked about any medication she was taking at that time while taking her medical history.

Chaperones? That doesn't exist in my country and, personally, I'd decline it if I had the choice. It would feel weird to have someone standing there, just watching.... Ok, I'm a medical student and being one I would tollerate an extra person watching my privates for educational purposes (or else I'd be a hippocrite), but otherwise... no. But, to each his own... Or her own, in this case.

@Tiffany:
"I was wondering – I believe House mentioned at one point that his specialities were nephrology and diagnostics. This is seems like a very strange combination to me, both from the standpoint of why a physician would choose those two seemingly unrelated specialities..."

And I'm doing a BSc double majoring in Genetics and Computer Science. Maybe they're only related by his interest in them :P Sometimes that's all it is.

Though an odd combination does tend to cause timetable problems... blech.

Just wanted to say that Doctors aren't like Cops. A Doctor watches medical shows for the soap and learn nothing, Because there is nothing to learn, cops watch Cops and other cop and lawyer shows then use what they learn at work instead of learning them the wright way.(Sorry most cops some are smart and do there job.)

Curtis: I don't think anyone except for Chase and House knew that it was Chase's screw-up, that's why the team never discussed it, and Chase obviously didn't want to bring it up. The whole story resurfaced only because of the lawsuit, which is a recent development. The first time Chase admitted to anyone but House that he hadn't bothered to ask the patient some simple questions was when the brother came in for some follow-up examination, which happened just a few weeks earlier. That's when the mistake became career-threatening.
As for the pelvic examination: I am embarrassed to say that in my country it's absolutely normal that a male gynecologist performs it without a chaperone. (Although it never really bothered me, as I've never seen it done otherwise.)

Certainly a wonky timeline here, as the "present tense" with the hearing seems to happen immediately after the previous episode with the House/Stacy fallout, yet it happens six months after the intial blunder and the death of Chase's father. So Chase kills some woman in a career-threatening mistake, then it's not mentioned once for half a year...

Just as patients don't have the right to demand a white doctor, they don't have the right to demand a female or male doctor.
It's sex not gender. Gender is a social construct that only mostly follows biology.

@Remco: in season 1, episode 14, Vogler asks Cuddy why the hospital spends so much money on a team that treats only one patient per week.

A far more interesting question is, if this episode spanned three months, does the next episode happen after this one, or does it happen at some point within those three months? If House episodes are consecutive and evenly spaced one week apart (as it sometimes seems, based on the soap opera), what do they do between the end of each season and the start of the next?
