(Also, butter and margarine turn rancid pretty quickly.)  The best treatment for a first-degree burn is to immerse it in cold water for roughly 20 minutes (according to askdrsears.com), followed by some pain reliever.  Since second-degree burns form blisters, you need actual burn creams for those.  (Third-degree burns, naturally, are filed under GO TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW.)</description>
