You didn`t notice something very stupid on the herpes plot: why would the husband go back and tell his wife what the doctor said? Does he NOT know that he is the one responsible?

Regarding Wilson's comment: "Don’t you ever eat anything besides canned soup and peanut butter?" I'm surprised that an educated and worldly man like House wouldn't have more nutritional diversity in his diet. At the very least, a Healthy Choice dinner and a mutlvitamin, to stave off deficiency diseases.

Quote: "They said that they couldn’t intubate because he was vomiting too much. Can’t you perform an intubation while using chrichoid pressure? Everytime I have helped a paramedic with an intubation they ask me to give chrichoid pressure and have explained that that is because it prevents vomiting."

Actually, cricoid pressure doesn't PREVENT vomiting. They'll still vomit, and if you keep the cricoid pressure on when they do you can do some damage to their esophagus. If they start to vomit you must release cricoid pressure. Cricoid pressure helps prevent non-pressurized gastric reflux (i.e. passive seepage) which is nice, but the medics you're working with are probably asking you to perform cricoid pressure because it moves the larynx posteriorly and makes it easier to see (and enter) the cords during intubation. If a medic tells you to do cricoid pressure on a vomiting patient, tell them it's not in your scope of practice as an EMT and let THEM rupture the esophagus.

Also, starting defib at 360 isn't kosher ACLS but I was an ACLS Course Director for 5 years and plenty of cardiologists seemed to jump right to 360. There rationale was "why dick around?" and that seemed to make sense to me. It wasn't exactly COMMON, but it came up enough that I wasn't surprised by it.

People are wondering why she was killing her husband. IMHO it's not just about no longer being in the marriage, it's about living out a fantasy. The fantasy of a long, drawn-out murder, watching him suffer, fooling the doctors, fooling everyone. The woman was already into sick fantasies.

As a long-time M*A*S*H* fan, one of the first things I noticed was the closing scene's similarity to the climax in "I Hate A Mystery," where Hawkeye is suspected of stealing things and collars Ho John by using "hydrochloric-alpha-terracin" to supposedly turn the thief's fingernails blue.

I just came across the blog and am a (very) enthusiastic latecomer to the series. Watching it on DVD has one benefit - I don't have to wait for commercials.

Thanks for the hard work and good science. I thoroughly enjoy reading.

Can't one test for pretty much all the heavy metals at once with nothing more complicated than a mass spectrometer? Failing that, I'm pretty sure a gamma spectrometer will pick up most of them beautifully, including gold. Our gamma spec in college could detect a few hundred atoms of mercury in a cc of liquid.

Just one question:
How did she poisoned her husband, if he wasn't eating Corn Flakes in the hospital?
