PSA Monday: Learn From Your Hobbies!
From Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #78 comes this pretty useless PSA about hobbies. First, I think the title is misleading. They don’t want you to learn from your hobbies, they want you to learn from other people’s hobbies! Poor Jim — who already knows a great deal about airplanes (his hobby) — now has to learn from Brad, the creepy stamp collecting kid from next door who barges in without knocking. With my luck, I’d end up having to learn from a worm farmer or a compost maker.
Also note the typo in the second panel, unless “lof” is some early 60’s slang word I’m unaware of.
Oh, and good luck flying over Mt. Everest, Jim.

Apparently they were really stumped for PSA ideas.
“It was either this or ‘When walking old ladies across the street, be sure not to stare directly into the sun.’”

I dunno. I got the idea that Mount Everest would be covered under geography or popular culture, even without someone collecting stamps.
The vibe I got here is that without hobbies, you dont learn ANYTHING – not that with hobbies, you learn MORE.

I like the map that the teacher has. That 1950 technology was great. Touch the map with a pointer and a sub-map suddenly appears.
