I wouldn’t expect anything approaching real medicine in Ray :) I also don’t remember much medicine in Monster after the first few chapters.

It is. Tezuka also created Astro Boy (Dark Horse), Phoenix (Viz), and Buddha. Vertical publishes both Kirihito and Buddha, and they pulled out all the stops in production.

Can you stand another medical manga recommendation? Ode to Kirihito is a thriller about a mysterious condition that turns humans into dog-like creatures, and it’s filled with medical lingo and hospital politics. 800 pages of Osamu Tezuka (who trained as a physician before turning to manga) for about $25 bucks.
