This psychic nosebleed scene comes from the recent Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. #10, by Warren Ellis and Stuart Immomen. The team has just been assaulted by the reality-projecting powers of Forbush-Man.
Aaron Stack and The Captain are showing nosebleeds as a result of the attack. Elsa Bloodstone may also be having the same problem — it’s hard to tell. As far as I know, this marks the first time a robot has evere suffered a psychic nosebleed.

Don’t know if you watch “Heroes,” but when the mind-reading cop’s nose started to bleed, my daughter and I yelled out simulataneously: “Psychic nosebleed zen!” I couldn’t help but wonder if they were just keeping with the comic book tradition, or if it was a shout-out to Polite Dissent.

I just wish I trusted Ellis enough to believe this is the greatest moment in post-Modern comics. (Though I am willing to give it to Immomen, he would get the joke.)
Oh, and we will know it’s a PD Shout-out when the Cop goes to se “Dr. Scott” for his “condition”.

I had a nosebleed yesterday – do you suppose it was from psychic stress? Or because there’s no new ‘Heroes’ tonight?
