So when your mind is taken over by a hostile Martian, there’s the ususal psychic nosebleed. In addition, there’s oral bleeding as well as the rare eye bleeding. Ouch.

The “control of their motor skills” the caption mentions is not what’s causing the bleeding, it’s just a set up for the next few panels when the mind-controlled guards gun down the other guards.

Did I read that right? The Martian Manhunter violently hijacked somebody’s brain and made him shoot people?!?
Hasn’t he been telling us for decades that doing such a vile and repugnant thing would violate everything he stands for and besmirch his honor and break his oath and blah blah blah?

It’s another Marian, not Jonn. That being said,, the new Martian Manhunter series features a much darker character.

Apparently the guard is a half-human, half-horned-lizard hybrid. Alas, while squirting blood from your eyes in a defensive reflex might dissuade your average desert predator, Martians are made of sterner stuff.
