I've set this as my desktop at work where I'm a triage LVN, and it's cracking up a lot of the staff. I'm pretty sure I make that $70.00 before my coffee break in the morning. When I graduated from Nursing school in the service in 1981, we had a big controversy whether we'd have to wear the damned caps -- fortunately, we did Not. (I still think it'd clashed with the Army green uniform).

I sent the ad to my mom, who informed me that in 1955 she was making $1.12/hr as a registered nurse. She thought it sounded like a good deal.

As an aside, my mother spent the last years of her career as the nurse in a county jail. I told her that she'd make a wonderful hostage some day...

My mom was a nurse (graduated in 1943 and served in WW2, where she met my dad when they were stationed on the same hospital ship). She always got mad at young nurses who wouldn't wear their caps. Glad the woman in the ad has her head on straight.
