More Nosebleeds
May 18th, 2007
We’re all well familiar with the fact that psychic powers can cause nosebleeds. But what else can lead to nosebleeds in comic books? Here are three of the top causes of comic book epistaxis:

In manga, nosebleeds are often caused by sexual arousal (although this phenomenon only seems to affect males).

Yeah but at least all three of those have real world similarities.

Haha! Yes, Conan is a high-ranked source of many sorts of bleeding.
Nice to have you back and posting.

In response to the first commenter, here is one of a number of sites that explains the sexual arousal/nosebleed connection in anime/manga.
One personal favourite example of mine occurred in the series “Burn Up Excess”. In one scene, all of the men inside a skyscraper were perving over images of girls on their various computer screens. Suddenly, we cut to outside the building, were we see that a whole building’s worth of explosive nosebleeds have caused blood to literally shoot out of all of the windows in the building, flooding the streets outside.

Your Halloween costume some year should be a faux nosebleed.

And headbutts. Always the epitaxis from the headbutts.

Any chance of you discussing the medical realism of what Paris did to the villain who caused his nose/ear bleeds? Can a human really do that?

Conan! Now that’s a punchline…

Conan is also a leading cause of death. Someone should do an American Conan Society p.s.a.
“Hello, I’m Thoth Amon. Did you know that Conan afflicts nearly 7 out of 10 dark sorcerers?”
It would be at least as cheesy as Oakes’ pun :)

And yes, it is at least as cheesy as Oakes’ pun.
