More Mind Games

The Atom visits Batman's medulla oblongota
The Atom runs up to the motor cortex to give Batman an 'idea' - which seems more thinking than motor
The Atom visits Batman's cerebellum
Damn that left/right dichotomy

There are so many incredible pages of the Atom running through Batman’s brain in The Brave and the Bold #115 that it’s hard for me to pick just a few panels to highlight. But somehow, I did.

Courtesy of Bob Haney and Jim Aparo, here’s the Atom running around inside the brain of a brain-dead Batman, stimulating various parts of his brain, and using him like a puppet to track down and apprehend the crooks who killed him.

  1. Yes Ray, please don’t “poop out” on Batman’s brain.

  2. I love the idea of “steering” Batman from a windowless, soundproof cockpit. Also that the interior of Batman’s skull is a lovely blue.

  3. In the Atom’s defense, Batman is wearing a TV camera on his chest and the Atom is carrying a small receiver so he can see where Batman’s going (at chest height, at least).

I like the sparkles in Batman’s brain. Are those thoughts? Ideas? Isn’t he supposed to be brain dead?

  4. And now we know where Brad Meltzer got the idea.

  5. Assuming, of course, that the book was ever in his collection.

  6. If he’s brain dead, all the stimulation in the world wouldn’t do anything.

Of course, apparently Batman’s brain is inflated with air, to let Ray jump around instead of swim. That might explain the brain damage.

  7. Does Batman not have spinal fuid?

  8. Fluid, rather. :(

  9. Actually, the right half of the cerebellum controls the right half of the body, doesn’t it?

  10. Nope, the Atom is right. The motor activities of the right side of the body are controlled by the left side of the brain, and vice versa.
