The number one peeve among women named “Lois” is that people are constantly calling them “Louis” or “Louise” both in speech and in writing. There’s even an organization called “The Lois Club” that tries to educate people about this problem.

@Dwight – According to Wikipedia, somewhere between 1673 and 1763. The valley was originally named Louisiana for King Louis XIV in 1678. There were numerous settlements in the area, but it looks like the one in 1763 was the first one to really be considered a city. It was not a US city until 1822 when Missouri was incorporated as a state. Except that St. Louis referred to St. Louis County, which incorporated a larger area. In 1876, the city officially seceded from the county.

I’ve seen speculation that it’s a Louis Vitton bracelet, not a hospital identification one. Seems kind of weak.

It’s the Louis Grant Memorial Hospital, which caters exclusively to journalists in both the print and visual media.

As for the hospital? Might Lois have been transferred to Metro Memorial from another hospital in Metropolis called “St. Louis”?

(Now that I think it over, here’s another, related question: when was the city of St. Louis founded/named as such?)

What’s her middle name? That name is awfully big text anyway.
