@petrino,
maybe because a CT scanner cannot properly tell what something "weird" is, resulting in too many false positives/negatives.

How did the nails end up in the middle brain (where most centers of the reward system and also of possible "addiction centers" are)? What caused the vomiting? Did another nail go to the brainstem?
Yes, from what I know there are such thing(s) that can be referred as to "addiction center(s)", they are involved in learning, reward and apparently schizophrenia, but curing addiction with a "simple surgery" would still fall squarely under "disease does not justify the treatment" - way too many risks and side-effects, I'd rather say.

House: Anybody has Taub's pager number?
Thirteen: Whats up?
House: Maybe give him a call. He touches that switch on the MRI and she is dead.

We dont need to switch on the MRI.....the magnet is always ON....this is really silly

Just watched this episode for the first time. I have no medical background, but here are two thoughts.

1. When House said "licorice root", i figured the Chinese doctors were using traditional herbal medicine to strengthen her Spleen, as an adjunct to whatever Western treatments they'd used. (Certainly they would not have used herbals as a primary treatment for SARS in China! Unless she had actually gone back a century in time.)

2. When Kutner said "pleasure center", i immediately thought "nucleus accumbens"; i seem to remember from a psych class that lesions to that area might affect addictive behaviors in rodents. (Wrong structure?) That might offer an explanation for her behavior, but removing the pins wouldn't fix the damage.

Physics nitpick: at the range at which Nicole is holding the magnet, it wouldn't have caused appreciable force on the nails in her brain. Magnetic field strength falls off very fast with distance (inverse cube).

Anybody got a video of the part where House clips a part of his dad's ear and is then in a different room with Wilson? Wilson says something like "Are you just going to act like a child and keep repeating-"
House: "Admit it admit it admit it admit it admit it admit it"
