Randallw – The problem in America is anyone who proposes anything like universal health care is immediatly label a socialist, and we’re not talking the I love my neighbor and want to help him out kind, we’re talking the Iron Curtain issue a bar code on your forhead commie type. Last time I checked, Australia and Canada are still considered democracies despite the fact that your health care systems have been socialized. Although I have to admit, I didn’t know Australia was like that.

The American social-political system is extermely interested in helping OTHER countries, and as recent events have shown is extermely interested in making sure others view the world the way we do to(aka Iraq). It’s funny, america does have a very socialistic agenda, we just dont practice it inside our own borders.

We need to help OTHER countries because of things like:
- Those countries have natural disasters which cause homelessness
- They have poorly run economies which cause people to go hungry
- Inadaquete health care, or lack of access
- They have greedy business owners which cuts jobs to save money
- An extermely few people in those countries control the majority of the money.
That’s why we help OTHERS. Oh wait…….

Randall, I think you’re a bit confused. This is the American government, which exists to exploit the populace.

Here in Massachusetts, if you don’t have health insurance, there’s a three month grace period, and then you’re fined. Because that would help you so much to pay for health insurance.

I’m a bit confused, but then I only really know of the American Health care system from shows like scrubs where they have to scheme behind the administrators back to give people health care when they don’t have health insurance. Here in Australia we have free Health care, education etc. I myself am on a disability pension which I may most likely stay on for life, although I have had at least one review in the last ten years. My medication is subsidised by the government such that I only pay a few dollars for what would otherwise cost a hundred. I find it very surprising to see such shows as an epsiode of the simpsons lately where they had to go to Canada to get cheap medication. To me it seems to be the most natural thing in the world that the government looks after people.
