Monday PSA Classic: How Not to Enjoy a Vacation!

I’m enjoying my last day of vacation, so I thought I’d dig out this classic DC public service ad I first posted a few years ago: “How Not to Enjoy a Vacation.”
There’s really not much I can ad to the dog’s narration, so just pay attention to what he’s saying.
This ad was first published in October 1957, then was republished in August 1963. The script — as always — is byJack Schiff, with Ruben Moreira on the art this time.

Yeah – next time we take a road trip, we’re leaving the grumpy dog home, and bringing beers instead!

If there are talking animals, Captain Marvel can’t be far behind…

Poor planning, failing to pay proper attention to details, forgetfulness in daily activities, impulsivity… maybe dad should be evaluated for ADHD.
My question is, why is dad responsible for remembering things like sun tan lotion, the map, driving, and film for the camera, when he consistently performs these tasks poorly? How about a little participation from mom? Or Terry, if he’s so smart?

Though this talking dog made several valid arguments, I feel he was being quite snide the enitre time. Something tells me that if I ever got a talking dog like this, he would be an outside dog. Lord knows how infuriating it would be to have this mutt sneak in while me and me wife are in bed …
“You’ve got another thing coming if you think she’s going to enjoy that Jeff”…”Don’t put all your eggs in one basket by trying that manuever Jeff”
No thanks.

They drove the whole trip in a convertible with the top down, and it was only when they got to the beach that they were exposed to the sun?
At least they didn’t leave the dog in the closed car with the windows up.
