Which, of course, is the reason that he tries to systematically wall them out whenever he really wants to go crazy like in the "Bruce Wayne: {Murderer?, Fugitive}" stories. Bat-Man dresses in dark colors and Robin dresses like a traffic light. Red, green and yellow is going to attract some unwanted attention. While the criminals are blasting away at multi colored Robin, Bat-Man is relatively safe. If Robin is killed, he can just replace him with another orphan.
