Patients Can Be Inconsiderate Sometimes
August 30th, 2009

I’ve spent too much time today playing Batman: Arkham Asylum to put up a proper post, so enjoy this not-really-taken-out-of-context panel (it’s from an old comic about a couple who fake typhoid fever to pull a scam, and, as twist endings would have it, end up catching the disease themselves).

Such a good game.
I’d be interested to see your medical opinions on the obviously subpar asylum.

As TvTropes put it ( http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BedlamHouse ), you expect there to be electroshock therapy wards and lobotomy rooms all over the place. Not to mention the dark, depressing atmosphere that would make anyone go mad. I love how the game psychologically affects the player and the perceived psychological effects of Batman on terrified thugs.

Well yeah. I found that to be the most effective part of the game, actually, especially in the first scarecrow segment, which terrified me. I just enjoy Scott’s wry medical observations.

No spoilers, but what Scarecrow does later in the game is pretty cool too. Freaked me right the heck out. I’d love to know Scott’s opinions on stuff like the henchmen’s heart rates, or the effects of Titan toxin on the spine.
