House Challenge — Week 2
September 28th, 2009

High score for the week goes to Alex Davis with 12 points. Kevin Lighton is in second with 9 points. Bird Gal, Erin, and Kirsten are all tied for third with 8 points. As it is early in the season, these people also are leading the overall House Challenge.

Hey. Don’t I get 3 points for the testing of mercury poisoning?
3. Heavy metal poisoning (lead, mercury, arsenic or cadmium)
Just checking.

Wow, 2 episodes in, and I’ve already made it to half of what I did last season.

@ alice:
it does say in the rules that you only get 1/3 of the points if the diagnosis is correct but not specific enough (ie if you put “heavy metal poisoning” instead of “mercury poisoning”…)

Alice,
You should have 1 point for the week. I’ll fix the score tonight.

Great, thanks. I thought it was 3 for actually testing for it :D Good to get out of the zero, yay!

It should be 3, but because you weren’t specific enough (neither was I, I have generic “heavy metal poisoning”), the cruel and merciless host of the challenge takes away 2/3 of our hard earned points. Shame on him!

I also had heavy metal poisoning on my list! Just making sure since I didn’t know if you were going to go back and see who else had that.

My mistake, I think I got credit for it. I thought treating the condition was 6 points, not 5 points.

Gosh you guys! Stop the whinging (or is it whingeing?). The great Scott warned you. You had to be specific. Anyway, I’m still zero (I’m going for shooting the moon, House Challenge Style). Also a fun challenge — can one name a disease that won’t be mentioned on House?

@EL
Dutch Elm.

@ Harvey
Are you sure? Would you want to bet that it might not come up in passing?

I can’t believe CRPS showed up… that was my biggest shot in the dark diagnosis. Thank you, pain clinic.

I’m still feeling out the scoring system, but as they did go to see if there was cocaine in his office it seems like I should have gotten a point for drug addiction. Not specific enough for the three points, but close enough. Oh well, I’m happy to be in the top tier.

drug use/drug abuse != drug addiction.

God bless amyloidosis…

Scott, can I get official clarification, since I put “drug addiction/substance abuse” on my list.
