It’s Like Looking In A Mirror

I swear, I have this same conversation with at least two or three patients a day. When will the horror of water allergy end?

Water allergy aside, how does avoiding an allergen for 48 to 72 hours help anything?

Never mind that — how do you swim cross-country?

I thought Aquaman had to return to the water every sixty minutes back in those days.

Charlene, it must be a temporary allergy caused by some poison or radiation or something like that :-)

I was going to say something but, Beaton’s observation has trumped all.

Erm… you put a swimming pool on a truck? I think someone in Britain did it.

Charlene: I think the context is probably that Aquaman would only be allergic to water for two or three days.

If Aquaman is really allergic to water, what about all the inherent water vapor in the air?
Perhaps I’m missing something in context, but shouldn’t Aquaman should be convulsing on the floor in hives?

Mike: I’m pretty sure the every-sixty-minutes thing was a Silver Age addition, when every character had to have their Kryptonite Factor as a cheap route to provide “suspense” or an obstacle to overcome. The art in this looks Golden Age, or early Silver at the latest.

Beaton: Does this answer your question?

YOS, Aha. It’s the Earth-Two Aquaman!

I have a friend who is allergic to water.
Of course really he is probably allergic to something that is extremely common in water, but whenever he takes a shower or goes swimming his body breaks out in these red splotches. He says they itch a little but it’s nothing he can’t deal with. They go away after about an hour when he dries off.

@ beaton: He found that elusive NW passage. . .
_____________
Excuse me, aren’t we mostly water? Help! I’m allergic to the fluid that makes up most of my body!
