I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the perversely addictive “Mythbusters”, a Discovery Channel show where two SFX geeks test Urban Legends. Pop Rocks, Coke, and Mikey is so strong in our national psyche, it even made the pilot:

A friend of mine and I actually risked our own lives to test the Pop Rocks/Soda theory…I’m glad to report that aside from some excessive fizzing and popping, we did indeed survive.
