Monday’s Guilty Pleasure: Bottlecaps

Willy Wonka (the Nestle subsidiary, not the Dahl character) has always made some of my favorite candies. One of their best is Bottlecaps. Sadly, this brand only seems to be available in certain areas of the country. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Bottlecaps, they are a roll of hard candies, similar to SweetTarts (but a little softer). They come in soda flavors: cola, root beer, grape, orange and cherry. The root beer is a little cloying, but the rest are excellent. There simply aren’t enough cola flavored candies out there…

    I love Bottlecaps! They’re my favorite candy, the only hard candy I buy (aside from Smarties). I remember when they came in bags like that, but now they come in paper tubes, like Sweet Tarts.

    I hate the root beer ones. It’s weird, my favorite candy, and I don’t like 20% of it.

    In our area, they’ve also started coming in 6 oz boxes (WalMart carries them), so that’s what I pick up on the rare occasion I head to that particular store.

    I haven’t had Bottlecaps in ages. I used to eat them by the bag…

    Out here in Cali, you can only find them at the Halloween season, in mixed candy bags. Makes them a bigger treat having to wait all year for ‘em… we really dive on them when the chance arises.
