Personally, as long as my doctor cares about me, is good at his work and cures me -well if it is possible- I dont care what he calls me. I mean, come on.. asthmatic-asthma patient..
Well, I am not from the U.S so this whole political correctness culture somewhat eludes me -and I dont say it is always wrong- . But after a certain point this "obsessing" over names, seems a bit pedantic.
Sorry if I seemed offensive to anybody, that's not my goal, really.

I dunno, I kinda like it when doctors view their patients as nothing but malfunctioning organic machinery.

There's too much emphasis on individualism these days. Makes people soft.

As a forensic scientist we too are reminded to refer to out victims by name, to remember that they were people but eneviatbly they land up as the "Torso in the Thames" or the "Bodies in the Barells"

Interesting ...=] our lecturer always emphasizes that it is "asthma patients" or "diabetes patients", not "asthmatics" or "diabetics"

'never label a patient as a disease, because then you're defining them as that disease & not as a person'...some sort of health psych aspect to it... =S

well, i guess some of us had to learn it the hard way! =P

she would be a high risk pregnancy as a patient with pancreatitis, folks. Stress puts baby at risk, plus the complications of severe pancreatitis itself.
