   Actually, Scott, a “non-protective force feild” could encompass a force feild that isn’t used defensively, but offensively. Like Sue Richards can do. Her force feilds can be used to protect or attack. That’s certainly got some advantages over simply having one for protection only, which is what Dr. Reyes’ did (if I recall correctly). So, while “protective force feild” might sound redundant, a case could be made that it really isn’t.

   What ever happened to her? She just disapeared, which was a shame because she was kinda fun to have around, precisely becuase she did whine and point out the obvious stupidity of the X-Men lifestyle (”Why are there aliens in the backyard??! WHY??!!”)

   She did kill Colossus.

   Anyway as annoying as she sometimes could be there was another cool bit in that their force field powers were highly unique in comic books. Most of force fields are quite insulating and Reyes’ was not.

   It would protect her from harm but not at all from sensation. I shoot Invisible Woman with a death ray and she puts up her force field she’s protected from nearly all the normal, expected effects. I mean, she can still see the death ray and all, and it’s exerting pressure on her field.

   Reyes’ force field activate involuntarily. She cannot extend her force field in any direction and while it protects her from harm, if I shot her with the same death ray I fired at Invisible Woman, Reyes would actually feel it. She would not be harmed in the ways the death ray inventor intended but she’d certainly feel like she got shot with a death ray.

   A very crappy super-heroine but simply put…. she was one of the more useful members of the X-Men and a good deal more entertaining than a Shi’Ar healing machine.

   She did manage to use her forcefield offensively at one point, but she was on some sort of mutant drug at the time and was really upset about it because of the whole “first do no harm” thing.

   Aine,

   Alas, Cecilia got trapped in that scrap yard for minor (read: disposable) X-Men Characters, Tieri’s “Weapon X.” Last time we saw her she was being kept alive (due to the supposedly useful nature of her powers) in WX’s prison camp. So she’s still alive, and MIGHT come back in the upcoming Weapon X mini. Though I doubt it.

   Still, it’s a better fate than similarly unwanted characters like Maggot or Locus (It’s so, so very sad that I mourn Locus’s fate. She had the best power though; she could teleport only parts of a person, thus killing them graphically in the process.)

   Actually, she might be dead: She is presumed to have been in the prison camp, “Neverland” in the “Endangered Species” miniseries. Since most of the prisoners were purged, she may have been killed off.

   Pity… it was good times to have someone that wasn’t raised to superheroing tagging along with the X-Men, and occasionally showing them the simple, NORMAL way to do things… like use doors.
