It's probably a two part power - first, the irradiated blood; and second - the ability to survive this irradiated blood. This second part is probably what gives him his spider powers. Aunt May wasn't exhibiting any spider powers, so it wasn't the blood itself (unlike She-Hulk.) I was wondering about Spidey himself.
