Missing the Point

  • The slogan for the new Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle: Sometimes it’s hard to hide*
Which makes me think that either Kawasaki or their advertising company doesn’t quite grasp the idea of “ninja” all that well.
  • After finishing second in the NASCAR race today, Greg Biffle commented “I was hounding him like a cat ready to pounce.”
Cat a cat really hound, or can only dogs do that?

*I’m probably paraphrasing slightly, I’ve only seen the ad once, and spent most of it laughing.

  1. Biffle isn’t the sharpest tack.

At least, he’s understandable when he talks.

It is much more fun when Sterling Marlin does something of note and
gets interviewed. Then, you can get out your Rural Tennessian to
English dictionary and try to do a translation on the fly.

    HA!

    puff

  2. Jeff Foxworthy does a great bit where he explains that the reason the other drivers don’t like Jeff Gordon is because us enunciates.

  3. I think the Kawa ad might be trying to imply that ninjas are hard to hide from, but I haven’t seen it, and the wording does sound unfortunate.

  4. The ad has someone driving a bright green Ninja motocycle being followed by enemy “agents” in helicopters, cars, etc.
I saw it during American Choppers 2 weeks ago…maybe it will be on again tonight.
