Hey I love this issue. It has a real air of menace. The rain works really well in this issue and Copperhead is actually a little scary despite his costume. The cover was not a 'rip-off' but a homage to the above mentioned cover that was neglected to be mentioned in the letter pages until later issues.

I think I agree about the whole Ren scenario though. If it was an event that happened prior to this issue it would have worked much better. I never really had much time for Aunt Ruth either.

With regard to why Copperhead's on about Ren, Copperhead's also an arrogant psychopath (note how he taunts Ruth after poisoning her). Odds are he wanted to both toy with a victim now that the job was done, and cover up the fact that he's a hired killer who was stupid enough to commit murder in a lit room, right at the window, in the middle of the night.

After Hawk and Dove visited the home dimension of their creator in Hawk and Dove #14-17, they each gained increased abilities. Hawk gained increased strength and invulnerability and Dove gained increased speed and the power of flight.

From bits and pieces picked up here and there, I've noticed that somewhere along the line it was decided that Dawn can fly? (Finally...always seemed odd two bird-based heroes couldn't fly. Tho' I suppose the same could be said about Batman.) Is this true? Also, when her sister eventually shows up to serve as Hank's replacement, is Holly/Hawk also able to fly? (This is assuming that what I've come to understand about Dawn is correct.)

That cover is a direct rip of a scene from some Batman story featuring Wonder Woman.

Shame!
